In over nine decades, Bentoel Group has grown into the fourth largest tobacco company in Indonesia. The Company was founded in 1930 by Ong Hok Liong as Strootjes Fabriek Ong Hok Liong, manufacturing local top brands such as Bentoel Biru, Tali Jagat, Bintang Buana, Sejati, Neo Mild, and Uno Mild.
Today, Bentoel Group is part of the British American Tobacco (BAT) Group. BAT is a leading global multi category company with a presence in over 180 countries worldwide. This allows the Company to add the global brands of Dunhill and Lucky Strike into its portfolio.
Our world-class operation covers research and development, tobacco leaf and clove processing, tobacco product manufacturing, as well as responsible marketing and distribution. We are currently transforming our tobacco business to include and provide our consumers with more choices and innovations, and potentially reduced-risk products. Such activities are currently supported by more than 1,400 employees across Indonesia.
In 2024, Bentoel Group exported to 27 destination countries. Such performance proves Bentoel Group’s full support to the government’s export programme.
